The Rainbow

for 4 part mixed chorus or 4 equal voices op.18 (2002)

This work won the first prize of the composition competition organised by the Stichting Jan Vermulst in 2002 in collaboration with the Dutch publisher for choral music Annie Bank.

It was first performed during the Festival Europa Cantat on the 22th July 2003 by the Dutch Nationaal Jeugdkoor conducted by Wilma ten Wolde in the Teatro Musical, Barcelona, Spain.

It is a small minimalist work involving the colours of the rainbow sung into three different languages (English, French and Spanish). According to the rules of the competition, it is written in a way such that it could be sung by a choir of 4 mixed voices as by a choir of 4 equal voices.
